Extra help to buy more food

3SquaresVT gives you extra money every month to help buy more food. If you qualify you can use your benefit to buy food at many local stores and farmers markets. 3Squares VT benefits can help you stretch your income for other expenses like rent, heat, medical bills, and transportation. The minimum benefit is $15 although you may qualify for much more. $15 could buy; 1 quart of milk, a loaf of whole grain bread, a can or tuna, 1lb of carrot, 1 lb. frozen green beans, a small bunch of bananas, ½ lb. of chicken breast and a can of black beans.

3SquaresVT can also help your children qualify for free school meals. School meals are an important educational support for children. Ensuring all children eat a healthy breakfast and lunch each day can dramatically alleviate hunger and support students’ health and academic achievement.

With winter and the holidays just around the corner, why not apply now? The gross income limit for a family of four is $3,971. SEVCA’s Family Services staff is available to assist households to apply for 3SquaresVT. If you need assistance filling out an application or would like one sent to you, please call SEVCA’s main office at 802-722-4575 or 1-800-464-9951, the receptionist will direct you to the worker in your area. You may also apply online at www.vermontfoodhelp.com. Use the “How Much Can I Get?” calculator to estimate your benefit amount
