Basics Insights

Tips for boosting your child’s learning – right to your phone!

Science shows that 80% of brain growth happens in the first three years. A baby’s brain develops like a muscle, getting stronger as they interact with their caregivers and surroundings. The Basics are five fun, simple, and powerful ways that every family can give every child a great start in life.

The Basics:

  1. Maximize Love, Manage Stress
  2. Talk, Sing, and Point
  3. Count, Group, and Compare
  4. Explore through Movement and Play
  5. Read and Discuss Stories

Basics Insights is a text messaging program designed to support your child’s development and strengthen your relationship. Each week until your child turns three, Basics Insights sends two messages based on their age.

On Mondays, you will receive a science-based fact and on Wednesdays, a suggested activity to boost your child’s brain development and learning.

Here’s an example:

FACT: Your baby is experimenting with making sounds and learning that they get your attention. By responding, you encourage them to keep practicing. You are building their language and communication skills.

TRY THIS: When your baby makes a sound, show excitement in your face and voice. Let them finish so they know you are listening. Then respond with real words. See how long you can keep the “conversation” going back and forth by responding to their sounds and expressions.

The messages serve as great reminders and sources of new ideas for connecting with your little one!
