Winston Prouty seeks vehicle for winter bookmobile program

The Winston Prouty Center’s Early Learning Express Bookmobile program travels to 37 locations in Windham County loaning books and resource kits, bringing various literacy activities and that special “bookmobile magic” to an average of 500 children and 100 adults per week, loaning approximately 5,000 books. Bookmobile visits are designed to expose young children to books, songs, poetry, and other language-based activities which help to build the pre-literacy skills they need for reading and for school success.

During the winter months the Bookmobile truck goes into hibernation and we have used our 2004 Subaru wagon to deliver our program to children from Stratton to Halifax, Brookline to Brattleboro.

This wagon has come to the end of its useful life and we are seeking a replacement. We need a safe 4-wheel drive vehicle that can handle rural dirt roads and be able to carry an assortment of books and materials for the program.

A donation of a useable vehicle would be an opportunity for the Prouty Center to publicize your business’ commitment to local children and their  success through literacy.

If you or your business have a vehicle or any ideas on a vehicle that can be donated to the bookmobile program please let us know below. Thank  you!
