Parenting through COVID. How are we doing?

Let’s talk about the reality, challenges and success we have had pioneering through this pandemic while raising young children.

JANUARY 28

Why Is She Doing That? Let’s Look at Behaviors

There is no pamphlet or instructions that comes when that baby is placed in your arms. We figure it out one day at a time. Let’s talk about how challenging behaviors develop and what we can do to support young children through them.

FEBRUARY 4

The Good Enough Parent

Let’s discuss those moments when you just feel like the worst parent in the world. We have all had those moments – when your child hits your hot button. We will discuss helpful strategies with hot buttons and how to take care of ourselves so we can take care of the ones we love.

FEBRUARY 11

Intentional Parenting

Have you ever had a moment when you hear your parents voice coming out of your mouth? This week we will talk about Intentional Parenting. How were we parented? What is it we bring to parenting from our childhood and what we leave behind. By the end of this circle, hopefully you can create an intentional parenting practice.

A note from the facilitator:

Dear Prouty Families,

Last March when we all went home, we went online. At that time I was the lead teacher in the Acorn Room. One thing I looked forward to each week as we isolated was touching base with all my families to see how they were navigating through the pandemic. We did weekly Zoom calls on Friday mornings. It helped me feel not so alone and I found it fascinating watching you all go into uncharted territory of doing it all – work, child care, and celebrating family.

With that spirit in mind, I invite you to the upcoming Parent Circle series. It’s another way to come together to create and sustain community here at Winston Prouty. In my new role as Behavioral Support Specialist, I reach out to all families in the Windham County region to offer support around challenging behaviors that young families may be dealing with. Let’s face it, there is a lot that’s been thrown at young families this year! So I’m creating a virtual space for all to come kick back, enjoy a cup of tea or favorite glass of wine after the children are in bed and discuss being a parent. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. All are welcome! You do not have to do all four. This is a chance to build a network, talk about the reality of parenting and the treasures as well.

I look forward to connecting with you! Please contact me if you have any questions.
