Winter Bookmobile Fundraiser

The Winston Prouty Center’s Early Learning Express Bookmobile program travels to 37 locations in Windham County loaning books and resource kits, bringing various literacy activities and that special “bookmobile magic” to an average of 500 children and 100 adults per week, loaning approximately 5,000 books.

Bookmobile visits are designed to expose young children to books, songs, poetry, and other language-based activities which help to build the pre-literacy skills they need for reading and for school success.

During the winter months the Bookmobile truck goes into “hibernation” and we have used a 2004 Subaru wagon to deliver our early literacy program to children from Stratton to Halifax Brookline to Brattleboro.

That vehicle is no longer drivable.  Now our goal is to raise funds for a “new to us” Winter Bookmobile that can safely handle rural dirt roads and be able to carry an assortment of books and materials for children and teacher to borrow and enjoy.

Your donation assure that local children and the adults who care for them continue to benefit from this dynamic program throughout the year.

Thank you!
